Sustainable Agriculture Movement Database
Our website is home to a new password-protected program that houses our own database and has the potential for use by our partners. The database provides both the security that partner organizations need for their lists, and a powerful, centralized database that will dramatically expand the base of sustainable agriculture activists, streamline rapid response networks and enhance the capacity of our partners to collect, manage and use data. Each eligible partner organization can have full access to their own data entries, and will also have the ability to set the level of access for others.
Northeast SAWG was the first partner to take advantage of this opportunity—they helped us test and refine the program and now house their nearly 3,500 contacts on-line with us. For information, contact the National Campaign's webmaster, Devin M. Ceartas, NacreData L.L.C., .
Database Technical Assistance
Our technology consultant and webmaster, Devin Ceartas, will be
available to structure the data as needed for compatibility and import
it into the existing database. He can provide additional support to partner
organizations as questions arise and as the database continues to be refined
for a minimal fee for service.
Building Capacity in the Sustainable Agriculture Movement
The National Campaign has always derived its greatest strength from the
active participation of a broad diversity of partners. We have begun to enlist as many
partners as possible in the use of the Sustainable Agriculture Movement
Database, in order to amplify our strength by collecting contact information
in a centralized location. This
centralized database will allow the National Campaign and its partners
to reach the broadest possible network of supporters quickly, to
facilitate the quick action often needed in our policy work.
One of the most promising aspects of the Sustainable Agriculture Database is its potential to be used by organizations with little in-house technology. Organizations that do not have the resources to maintain or even establish their own computerized database can access this resource on-line, even using their local library or other public internet provider. The ability to store their own information externally while also sharing information with partner organizations would strengthen the ability of all partners to reach and activate a broader base of supporters.
